Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Tonite Gonzalez-Collins is the Mexican American sportscaster. She anchors SportsNation and is a SportsCenter anchor. She joined ESPN in 2016. The daughter of TV reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins is bilingual and has been since the age of nine. This skill helped her to get her first job with Univision, Miami. She worked alongside national producers on shows such as Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. After this, she was hired by the CBS subsidiary located in St. Petersburg employed her as a sport reporter. She moved in 2009 from Rio Grande Valley, Texas to work as an investigative reporter for KNVO TV 48 Univision. Spanish station KNVO TV 48 Univision and Fox2 News. Reporting on stories on the trafficking of drugs and immigration from both sides of the Mexico-Texas Border, she served as a news reporter on KNVO TV 48, the Spanish channel KNVO TV48 at 5 pm. She was a news reporter with a news anchor in English for 9 pm, then a news anchor for 10pm, before returning to the Spanish channel. Anchor duties on sports and weather was also frequently demanded. Deportes 23 in Dallas, Univision's affiliate station in Dallas. In that station, she was given greater accountability. She wrote pieces on Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS and World Series as well Dallas Cowboys NBA postseason finals FC Dallas, and Dallas Stars. Additionally, she was the producer of Univision 23's local sports show Accion Deportiva Extra on which she also served as anchor. She worked as the sports anchor of Despierta America Deportes morning show. The same role she was employed by Primer Impacto (a network magazine) as well as Contacto Deportivo (a UniMas Network sports channel). Antonietta's parents were originally of Veracruz Mexico. Then, they moved to Mexico City and she was born there on November 22 in 1985. She has a sister. The family moved in 1992 to Mexico for the US and eventually settled in Miami. In 1992, the couple divorced and shortly afterward in 1995 she remarried Fabio Fajardo who was naval engineer, who passed away in the year 2006 from kidney cancer. In June of the year 2006, Antonietta took a week with her sister in Canton Ohio. The older Collins girl was employed at the time. Antonietta still a senior at high school but she had a clear idea of the path she wanted. So while assessing if Mount Union is the right choice for her, Antonietta visited the school. It was a beautiful campus and provided the education she sought. After finishing her high school education, she chose to attend the University with a major in Media Studies. Her relationship lasted for a while with her teacher Mark Bergmann who was the manager at WRMU 91.1 FM of which she was an affiliate. His passion for journalism and confidence in herself encouraged her. In turn, she was determined to achieve his expectations and never let him down.
