Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master's degree in English literature. Mitchell began working as a TV and radio reporter for Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. She joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. She joined NBC News Washington two years later as a general reporter. Beginning in 1981, she began reporting on the White House. In 1988 she became the the chief reporter for Congress. She was named Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994, she was named chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell participated on the TV show Meet the Press and also host of the show. Mitchell was a panelist during the presidential debates in 1988 with George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded numerous honors for journalism excellence, including an award called the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. Mitchell was also awarded with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award from the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell's initial White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. This period included both Ronald Reagan terms in office. Mitchell covered a number of noteworthy news stories throughout the years, including fiscal reform, the budget as well as an investigation into the Iran Contra saga. She traveled extensively along with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
