As young as five, Linda Blair had to become comfortable in being the center of attention, initially as a model in the child years and eventually as an actor, when out of 600 applicants she was picked for the role as Regan The possessed child who is the protagonist in The Exorcist. Linda won the Golden Globe and was on course to win the Academy Award. However, after it was revealed that the demon voice had been voiced in the voice of Mercedes McCambridge and that eight seconds of stunt dummies had been used, the dream of an A list career ended up being a flop. Over the next few years she was able to secure leads in a wide range of movies, including the hugely successful TV series Born Innocent However, when she was pressured by peers to buying cocaine at the age of 18 it led to an arrest and a subsequent sentence of three years of probation. Linda's career as a star in Hollywood was severely impacted because of the drugs bust which was made widely known. She now only appears only on TV and B-movies.
